The Best Recipes For ABV Tea

One of the most convenient ways to enjoy already vaped bud, also known as AVB or ABV, is by adding it to your favorite hot beverage. Coffee, tea, even hot chocolate: all of them can become a fun morning or evening treat by adding AVB.

But making ABV tea is especially fun, because there are so many blends and recipes you can make. Also, it's easier to create low-calorie, zero-caffeine options with herbal teas.

What is already vaped bud and how do you use it in tea?

In case you don't know, already vaped bud is the cannabis that's leftover in a dry herb vaporizer after you're done with a session. You can save your AVB and store it in an airtight container for later - a mason jar works great.

Unlike fresh marijuana flower, which needs to be decarboxylated before you can use it as an edible, ABV is ready to go. It's already been decarbed by the vaping process. That means it's ready to be used in your favorite tea.

If you want, you can just sprinkle it directly in a cup of tea and drink it, but you'll want to drink the dregs afterwards. Cannabinoids like THC and CBD aren't water soluble, so you'll need to eat the soggy AVB after to get the full effects.

That could be a bit gross for some people. There's a better solution: brewing and steeping your AVB tea in milk, whole milk if possible. There are non-dairy alternatives that work too. You can check out our guide to making ABV tea to learn all the tips and tricks.

Learn How to Make AVB Tea

Just about any kind of tea will work well with ABV, as long as it pairs well with milk. You can use tea bags, or if you want an even tastier tea, go with loose leaf tea.

You don't even have to use actual tea at all! The flavor of AVB with hot milk or a dairy alternative is pretty tasty on its own. But it's not nearly as much fun.

Choosing your tea leaves

Green teas typically don't pair well with milk. An exception can be if they're a heavily flavored blend that include nuts or coconut. Otherwise, it's best to avoid green tea altogether, and stick with black tea if you want a caffeinated tea. You can also make AVB coffee.

Rooibos, masala chai tea, yerba mate, and herbal teas all work excellently as AVB teas. Just avoid citrus-dominant blends because they don't work as well with milk.

For those who are avoiding dairy, you'll want a milk alternative that still has a high fat content. A lot of non-dairy milk brands have "barista" versions of their products that are extra rich and fatty. Use these! Soy, oat, and coconut all work great.

Pairing with cannabis strain

You might think that you should choose a tea that matches the flavor of your cannabis strain well. For example, earthier strains might theoretically be a better fit than citrus ones. But this isn’t the case.

Terpenes are compounds in cannabis that give weed its flavor and smell. When you vape, you consume almost all the terpenes, because they vaporize at lower temperatures than cannabinoids like THC and CBD.

So it really doesn't matter what strain you've got. ABV weed doesn't have any of the flavor characteristics of the strain left in it.

How strong is AVB cannabis tea?

The strength of vaped weed varies, and it can be tough to know how much potency is in your ABV. A lighter color closer to green usually means it's stronger, while dark colors have less THC and CBD left.

So when you're experimenting with AVB recipes for the first time, start slow, with a low dose. Like other AVB edibles, ABV weed tea can take hours to kick in, so test with a small amount at first to see how it affects you.

Tea Recipes for the Perfect ABV Tea

Here are a few ideas of which ingredients work well with each type of tea. The tea you use can be from a tea bag or loose leaf. If you use loose leaf, it will be easier to combine different ingredients together in a strainer or tea ball.

And remember, green tea doesn't work so well for this, so we're not including a list of ingredients for it. If you're going to try it, make it nutty if possible, with almonds, walnuts, or coconut. For an oolong tea recipe, try the ingredients listed under black tea.

Black tea, rooibos, yerba mate will taste delicious plain. Just add ABV and milk, then add sugar, honey, or sweetener to taste. Otherwise look out for tea blends that include the following ingredients. And if you're feeling adventurous, create your own blend!

Black tea:

  • vanilla
  • lavender
  • ginger
  • cinnamon
  • cloves
  • cardamom
  • bergamot

Rooibos weed tea:

  • shredded coconut
  • vanilla
  • peppermint
  • cinnamon
  • ginger
  • lemon peel

Herbal cannabis tea:

  • peppermint
  • cinnamon
  • almond
  • dried apple

Best Dry Herb Vaporizer For Cannabis Tea

Your vaporizer should be able to produce both satisfying vapor during a session, and consistent, high-quality AVB for later use. Dry herb vapes need to heat weed to a precise temperature, have good airflow, and heat the cannabis evenly.

Vaporizers also need to be kept in reasonably good working order. A clogged vape with restricted airflow is going to heat herb badly, resulting in worse sessions and worse leftover weed for ABV. You'll also get much better flavor if your vape's air pathway is coated with gunk from a previous vaping session.

Finally, make sure you grind your herb before loading the chamber of your vape. Otherwise, you'll restrict airflow and have weaker effects and AVB.

Choosing a portable vape

If you're going with a portable vaporizer, keep in mind that it can be tough to clean and reload your vape while you're on the go. The Furna has the innovative advantage of a swappable oven system: this lets you load up more than one oven in advance.

Whenever one oven is finished, you can instantly swap in a fresh one, without having to find a convenient location to sit and reload.

You can also easily keep track of which strain is in which oven, as well as make use of specialized ovens for concentrate and 510 oil cartridges.

Check out the portable Furna vape and see what you think for yourself.
